The Site provides free, web-based financial calculator tools including: (a) an ACA Subsidy Cliff Calculator that estimates Affordable Care Act premium tax credit subsidies and suggests MAGI-reduction strategies; (b) an IRMAA Medicare Surcharge Planner that estimates Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts for Medicare Part B and Part D based on income; (c) a Widow's Tax Penalty Calculator that estimates the tax impact when a surviving spouse shifts from Married Filing Jointly to Single filing status; (d) a Social Security Tax Torpedo Calculator that visualizes how additional income triggers Social Security benefits to become taxable; (e) a Capital Gains Bump Zone Calculator that shows how long-term gains are taxed at 0%, 15%, and 20% rates; (f) a Net Investment Income Tax (NIIT) Calculator that estimates the 3.8% surtax on investment income; and (g) a Roth Conversion Bracket-Fill Calculator that determines optimal Roth conversion amounts considering tax brackets, IRMAA, ACA subsidies, and NIIT constraints.

While we strive for accuracy, the Site's calculations are estimates based on: (a) published federal data sources (IRS, HHS, CMS, KFF) that may contain errors or may have been updated since our last review; (b) state-level SLCSP averages that may not reflect premiums in your specific county or rating area; (c) simplified MAGI calculations that may not account for all income sources, deductions, or credits applicable to your situation; (d) simplified state income tax models that may not reflect all credits, exemptions, or local taxes; (e) estimated pension survivor benefits (approximately 50% of deceased spouse's pension); (f) simplified Social Security survivor benefit assumptions (higher of two benefits); (g) IRMAA bracket thresholds that change annually per CMS/SSA announcements; and (h) Medicare premium amounts that are estimates and may differ from actual premiums.
